Palatine Ancestral Homeland Tour
The Irish Palatine Association have commenced organizing a 10-Day tour in the German Palatinate which will take place in September 2019. We will be visiting ancestral villages, castles, small museums, exhibitions and local events that highlight our Palatine heritage & culture and will be the main focus of this tour. We will also visit some of the larger tourist attractions of the region, however the main emphasis will be on visiting the smaller towns and villages and meeting the people therein which is not normally done by commercial tour operators. We will keep you updated as the plans progress.

Irish Palatine Weekend
September 28th - 1st October 2018
This event which had participants from Ireland and Canada was based at the Rathkeale House Hotel and commenced with a welcome dinner on the Friday evening. Over the course of the weekend we visited the important local Irish Palatine sites and also the secondary sites in Co.Kerry. We had a banquet at Ballyseedy Castle, the home of the landlords who invited the Palatines onto their estate in the eighteenth century.
The programme was inter dispersed with some interesting talks by Dr. Paddy Waldron on Reconstructing Limerick family histories using DNA and Dr. Hermannn Rasche on the social, economic situation of the Palatines at the time of their departure from their German homeland (the various reasons for leaving and related aspects), before they settled in Ireland and further afield.

Then there is an article of the Pipers journey to South Africa and to the Rugby Playing fields of the world. Also an article of David Switzers crossing of the Atlantic Ocean by sailboat from USA to Ireland. There is the story of George Hoffman of Ballymacelligot, Ireland and of Waikato, New Zealand and
